The yak 52 is a two seat tandem aerobatic aircraft
initially designed as ab initio trainer.
Popular in the western world due to it’s incredible performance
and handing characteristics, the aircraft is fitted standard
with dual controls making it a very impressive and much loved
aerobatic aircraft. The YAK 52 can fly the most basic and
gentle routines, yet it’s capable of carrying out advanced
aerobatic maneuvers with it’s + 7 G and – 5 G limits with
two crew and full fuel. The YAK 52, like most Soviet military
aircraft, was designed to operate in rugged environments with
minimal maintenance often having it’s service “carried out
in the field”. The standard 52 is powered by 360hp 9 cylinder
Ivchenko M14P radial engine with an inverted fuel an oil system
that permits inverted flight for as long as 2 minutes while
drawing fuel from a 5 gallon reserve tank. The engine drives
a 2 blade variable pitch wooden propeller.
